Alay Mula sa Puso Medical Mission 2025: Global Health Force, One La Salle Alumni of SOCAL, Don Bosco Makati Batch 1980, and the Philippine Coast Guard

A Collective Gift of Healing and Hope

In the spirit of compassion and love, the “Alay Mula sa Puso–Medical Mission 2025″ unfolded across the Philippines this past February, reaching communities in Sta. Rosa, Laguna; Cavite City; and Lubang Island, Occidental Mindoro. Anchored in the essence of Valentine’s month, this mission was more than just a series of medical activities—it was a heartfelt offering, a gift of health and hope to those in need.

A Collaboration of Hearts and Hands

The mission was a powerful collaboration between key organizations and sponsors who shared a unified vision of service. Leading the charge was Global Health Force (GHF), a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing health care to the poor and neglected. GHF consists of volunteers in the United States working hand in hand with local partners, believing that the spirit of volunteerism is alive and that by pooling resources and experiences, they can be a positive force in alleviating suffering.

Joining them were One La Salle Alumni of SOCAL, Don Bosco Makati Batch 1980 Alumni, and the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary 102nd Squadron. Their collective efforts were bolstered by the generosity of sponsors such as Blessings from Heaven, Beacon Hospice, PAL, the Dela Rama Family, and many more—each contributing resources, time, and compassion to bring this mission to life.

The mission also flourished through strong partnerships with local government units (LGUs) of Santa Rosa, Lubang Island, as well as the National Cavite High School Batch 1971 Alumni Association. Their active participation was instrumental in ensuring smooth coordination, mobilizing local support, and connecting the medical team with those most in need.

A Profound Act of Giving Back

For the 47 medical professionals and volunteers, many of whom are Filipino Americans who have built successful careers in the United States, this mission was more than just a professional obligation. It was a deeply personal act of giving back to the country that shaped their roots. The team included eight doctors, 16 nurse practitioners, 19 registered nurses, two occupational therapists, and four dentists, supported by 25 lay volunteers.

For these medical professionals and working individuals, returning to the Philippines meant more than providing health care—it was a way to reconnect with their heritage, honor their upbringing, and share their success by uplifting those who need it most. Their journey back home was a testament to the enduring bond between the Filipino diaspora and their homeland, proving that no matter how far they’ve come, the desire to serve their kababayans remains strong.

The Healing Touch of Medical Professionals

The team addressed a range of medical concerns, with the most common cases revolving around pain management, diabetes, vision problems, and weight loss. Patients received not only medical consultations but also free medications for diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, pain relief, and vitamins for both adults and children. Dental care and pediatric consultations were also part of the services offered.

Over the course of the mission, approximately 1,650 patients were served. Each patient received more than just medical care—they were provided with free reading glasses, a supply of rice, and canned goods. For those battling chronic conditions, maintenance medications were also distributed, ensuring they had access to essential treatments for the next 60 days. Follow-up care was seamlessly coordinated through their local LGU clinics, reinforcing a sustainable path to long-term health management.

Reaching Lives, Touching Souls

Beyond the numbers and logistics, what resonated most deeply were the personal stories woven into this mission. One member of the team, a graduate of Cavite National High School, found himself back in his hometown, serving old friends and even his own mother. His homecoming was not just a professional endeavor but a heartfelt reunion and an emotional full-circle moment.

Another key team member, though physically unable to attend due to his own medical situation, had roots in Lubang Island. His spirit, however, was ever-present, as his contribution to the mission allowed him to give back to the very community his parents once called home. His story was a powerful reminder that even from afar, love and generosity know no bounds.

A Mission Fueled by Love

“Alay Mula sa Puso – Medical Mission 2025” was not just about treating ailments—it was about nurturing hope. It was about rekindling the bonds between people and places, about giving back to the roots that shaped us. The mission was a testament to the enduring power of collective compassion, proving that when hearts and hands unite, healing becomes a ripple that touches not only the body but the soul.

As the team looks ahead, the mission’s impact lingers—in the grateful smiles of patients, in the quiet joy of volunteers, and in the hearts of those who gave and received. This mission was, truly, an offering from the heart.
