Reprising their iconic roles as Joy and Ethan, Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards have made cinematic history once more with Hello, Love, Again. Now officially the highest-grossing Filipino film of all time, this sequel to Hello, Love, Goodbye didn’t just surpass the 924-million-peso megahit Rewind—it also became the first Filipino movie to cross the billion-peso mark at the box office.
Overwhelming as it may be, the KathDen starrer continues to captivate audiences, offering a heartfelt portrayal of the sacrifices made by overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). Their stories of perseverance and love resonate across the globe, making this film a universal tale of hope and resilience.
Set five years after their Hong Kong escapade, Hello, Love, Again dives deeper into the lives of Joy and Ethan as they navigate the aftermath of relationship mishaps and life-altering mistakes. Their journey adds a new layer of complexity to the story, interwoven through a non-linear timeline that keeps the audience emotionally invested.
True to its core, the film is a love letter to Filipinos around the world, reminding them of the courage it takes to chase dreams despite the struggles of long-distance relationships. Joy, for instance, undergoes a significant transformation, adopting a new identity as “Marie” and pursuing her aspirations of becoming a nurse in Canada. This transition is just one of the many revelations that make this sequel a compelling watch.
Adding to the excitement is the expanded cast, which brings fresh energy to the story. Alongside returning favorites Joross Gamboa, Kakai Bautista, Maymay Entrata, Lovely Abella, and Jeffrey Tam, the film introduces new faces like Valerie Concepcion, Jennica Garcia, Ruby Rodriguez, Jobert Austria, Mark LaBella, Marvin Aritrangco, and American-Korean actor Kevin Kreider. With Cathy Garcia-Molina at the helm, Hello, Love, Again delves into themes of independence, transformation, nostalgia, and the promise of new beginnings.
“It was all worth it, every step of the way! Our Hello, Love, Again journey became memorable and meaningful because of each one of you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, for embracing Ethan and Joy with so much love and support once again,” Alden penned in one of his Instagram posts, sharing a snap of him and his co-star Kathryn at the set of Hello, Love, Again. “You all made this happen!”

Kathryn, in a separate statement, expressed how grateful she is for the endless support. “Our hearts are overflowing with so much joy. This is more than what we’ve prayed and wished for. We poured so much love into this project, and you returned that love a thousandfold. The amount of support we’ve been receiving is beyond what any of us could have imagined,” she said. “To our fellow Filipinos, thank you for giving us the chance to continue sharing with you the story of Joy and Ethan.”
