The way Apo Hiking Society’s “When I Met You” can bring butterflies to your belly, or how anything by VST & Company can get you on your feet—that feeling remains unmatchable. Even the first few seconds of the Eraserheads’ “With A Smile” can get you right into your feels. We love OPM, and though the genre has expanded into more modern approaches, it has proven time and time again that it will always sound like home.

1. “LDR Sped Up” (Shoti)
You’re probably surprised that this is even on the list. Yes, the viral Tiktok song is written and self-produced by a Filipino. In fact, he’s only 14. From the viral dance challenges to cute couple montages, “LDR” is a phenomenon online for its fusion of hyperpop and classic Filipino kilig.
2. “Gento” (SB19)
SB19 is the Philippines’ very own P-POP boy band and an homage to K-POP culture. The award-winning group hit their first Billboard Sales Hit with their song “Gento,” just a spot away from Enhypen’s single “Bite Me.” Powerful in both lyrics and beat, this song packs a serious punch to anyone who gives it a listen.
3. “Uhaw” (Dilaw)
Think of a summer fling that you can’t get out of your head—that’s what this song feels like. “Uhaw” by the rising Filipino duo Dilaw is a slightly upbeat ballad for those who love soothing vocals paired with alternative rock arrangements. “Uhaw,” meaning thirsty in Filipino, is a sweet symphony that embraces the experience of thirsting for love.
4. “Pasilyo” (Sunkissed Lola)
Sunkissed Lola, a promising local alternative band, broke Spotify streaming records with their song “Pasilyo.” From the John Mayer-esque opening of a striking electric guitar, to its subdued lyrics about longing and patience when in love, it’s that afternoon drive kind of song that can cue that muni-muni (musing) type of moment.
5. “Gusto” (Zack Tabudlo ft. Al James)
Zack Tabudlo is no new name to recent OPM. The young artist collaborated with Filipino rapper Al James and released “Gusto,” a groovy, cool track that blends R&B and rap effortlessly. While the song still carries his signature riffs likened to his hits “Habang Buhay” and “Asan Ka Na Ba,” it’s tactfully balanced with Al’s slow, rhythmic vocals.
6. “Raining in Manila” (Lola Amour)
It rains a lot in Manila, and for some reason, that often comes with moody, reflective moments. Inspired by torrential downpour and constant wondering, “Raining In Manila” is a well-loved track with melodious instrumentals and striking vocals. The song was even noticed by Jungwon and Jake of ENHYPEN, who blasted the track during their Weverse Live!
7. “Could Be Something” (Ben & Ben)
Ben & Ben gifted us with another sweet, butterflies-in-my-belly type song that’s reminiscent of the giddiness that comes with a new crush. “Could Be Something” is the duo’s first step into a new sound as they integrate their signature guitar riffs with electronic city pop. The track is light and hopeful while keeping that Ben & Ben touch of being in your feels.
8. “Lambing” (Kindred ft. Kiyo)
Up and coming alternative boyband Kindred’s third single, “Lambing,” hits that sweet spot between R&B and Japanese citypop. “Lambing” presents soothing harmonies, gentle synths, and a catchy rap that can get you either swaying to the beat or longing for a loved one. Much like the Texas-originated collective Brockhampton, Kindred brings together every member’s unique sound into an unconventional, this-hits-different kind of track.
9. “Strawberry Soju” (Jesse Barrera, Albert Posis, Michael Carreon)
With over 5 million Spotify plays, “Strawberry Soju” is a rhythmic bop written and produced by three Filipino-American writers. The song mixes alternative R&B and hyperpop, inviting listeners to bop their heads while singing along. It’s a lighthearted take on the feeling of desiring someone who might not be good for you (which is wittily referred to as, you guessed it: strawberry soju).
10. “Love + U” (Jensen & The Flips)
“Love + U” is an upbeat, carefree song that can easily get you on your feet. Through their groovy baseline and heartwarming vocals, Jensen & The Flips offers a track that sounds just like PREP and Luther Vandross had a baby. It’s fun and simple, much like how good songs can be, and doesn’t hold back on that happy-go-lucky feeling.
